The Company

The energy industry is entering one of the most significant periods of growth and transformation in its history. Meeting the nation’s growing demand for reliable electricity will require new ideas, new infrastructure, and talented people committed to building for the future.

At Cypress Creek Energy, we’re meeting that challenge by developing and operating the energy infrastructure needed to power communities, support economic opportunity, and strengthen resilience. We believe our responsibility extends beyond the grid and that how we build matters just as much as what we build.

That same commitment extends to our employees. We invest in professional growth, encourage collaboration across teams, and provide opportunities to take ownership, expand your expertise, and advance your career. Our culture is grounded in safety, accountability, respect, and a shared commitment to deliver results. Join us and help meet one of the most important energy challenges of our time while building a rewarding career.

Overview

The Director of Enterprise Systems leads the strategy, delivery, and ongoing operation of the business application platforms that run Cypress Creek Energy's back office. The role owns the ERP and HRIS ecosystems end to end — including NetSuite, Rillion, payroll, expense, travel, and performance management — and is the connective tissue between IT and the Accounting, FP&A, Tax, and HR functions that depend on them.

This is a senior leadership role that combines hands-on systems judgment with the executive presence to manage a team, set roadmaps with finance and HR leadership, and represent enterprise systems to internal stakeholders, auditors, and external partners. The Director leads a team of dedicated system owners and coordinates internal and external resources, including implementation partners and managed-service providers.

Responsibilities

ERP & Enterprise Platform Ownership

  • NetSuite ownership: Own NetSuite as the company's system of record — including configuration governance, release management, integrations, and platform health. Ensure the system supports an efficient close and accurate reporting.
  • AP and procure-to-pay: Oversee Rillion and the broader AP / P2P toolchain. Drive automation, controls, and a clean user experience for the business.
  • HRIS portfolio: Own the HRIS ecosystem covering payroll, expense, travel, performance management, and related systems. Ensure platforms are integrated, well-supported, and aligned to HR's operating model.
  • Roadmap & investment planning: Maintain a multi-year roadmap for enterprise systems. Prioritize investments, retire technical debt, and time major upgrades or replacements with business cycles.
  • Integrations & data flow: Govern integrations between ERP, HRIS, banking, treasury, project finance, and operational systems. Make sure data flows are reliable, auditable, and well-documented.

Business Partnership

  • Accounting partnership: Partner with the Controller's organization to support a timely, controlled close. Provide systems leadership during close, year-end, and audit cycles.
  • FP&A partnership: Enable accurate, timely reporting and forecasting. Support planning system needs, data integration with the ERP, and the analytics layer the business relies on.
  • Tax partnership: Support Tax with the data, structures, and reporting capabilities required for compliance, fixed-asset management, and tax-equity reporting.
  • HR partnership: Work with HR leadership on the HRIS roadmap, including payroll cycles, performance and review processes, expense and travel programs, and employee experience.

Team Leadership & Resource Management

  • Team management: Lead and develop a team of dedicated system owners (NetSuite, Rillion, HRIS, and others). Set objectives, coach for growth, and build a culture of ownership and service to the business.
  • External resources: Manage relationships with system vendors, implementation partners, and managed-service providers. Hold partners accountable to commitments, contracts, and service levels.
  • Internal resources: Coordinate cross-functional project teams that include business, finance, and IT participants. Bring structure, sequencing, and clear ownership to enterprise systems work.

Governance, Controls & Communication

  • Controls & compliance: Ensure enterprise systems support the company's internal control environment, including SOX-style controls, segregation of duties, change management, and audit evidence.
  • Risk & continuity: Establish backup, recovery, and continuity practices appropriate to systems of record. Coordinate with Information Security on access, identity, and platform hardening.
  • Executive communication: Present plans, status, and outcomes clearly to executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders. Translate between technical detail and business impact.
  • Standards & documentation: Build the operating discipline — runbooks, change controls, configuration registers, and clear documentation — that lets the team scale.

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, accounting, finance, or related field — or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience leading enterprise systems, with significant time supporting Accounting, FP&A, and HR functions.
  • Hands-on, production-grade experience owning NetSuite (or an equivalent enterprise ERP), including configuration, integrations, and release management.
  • Deep understanding of the financial close, financial reporting, and the systems that support both.
  • Experience with HRIS platforms covering payroll, expense, travel, and performance management.
  • Demonstrated track record managing a team of system owners or system administrators.
  • Experience managing external implementation partners and managed-service providers, including scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Strong executive presence — proven ability to present clearly to senior leadership and to facilitate decisions across multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience operating in a control-conscious environment (SOX, audit, or equivalent).
  • Ability to work from the Durham, NC or Washington, DC office three days per week.
  • Embrace and live by the mission and values of Cypress Creek Energy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the energy, utility, renewables, or independent power producer sector.
  • Familiarity with project finance, tax-equity structures, and the systems that support multi-entity, multi-fund accounting.
  • Experience leading an ERP implementation, upgrade, or major re-platforming.
  • Experience with Rillion or comparable AP automation platforms.
  • Experience integrating ERP with planning (FP&A) and reporting / BI tools.
  • Relevant certifications (NetSuite Administrator/SuiteFoundation, PMP, or similar).

Location: The preferred location for this role is in Durham, NC. Our team operates on a hybrid schedule, with in-office schedule of three days per week.

Benefits:
