Boarding Parents (Immediate Need)

Summary:

Dakar Academy offers family-style homes within the school’s secure, walled-in campus. Each home is led by a married couple whose full-time responsibility is the care and nurture of the students in their home. DA's campus living program is an accredited boarding program on the African continent that meets the high standards for accountability set by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

Every home seeks to function as a family unit where students eat family style meals together, create their own unique traditions, and work together to make their space a comfortable "home away from home." Students living on campus enjoy outings together, including trips to the beach, soccer nights, camping trips to Lac Rose, and spontaneous events like ice cream runs.

Our boarding parents work closely with teachers to help students achieve academically, and partner with the student's parents to provide the individual care and nurture that every student needs—as well as keeping parents connected to the day-to-day lives of their children while they are apart.

Required Qualifications: 

1. Must be a evangelical Christian for a minimum of five years and demonstrate a Christ-like testimony with a strong Biblical worldview    
2. Married couple will have been married at least five years and demonstrate a good marriage 
3. Must sign:
   1. DA Statement of Faith
   2. DA Staff Expectations Agreement 
   3. DA Boarding Philosophy 
4. Family histories of both spouses, childhood to the present, must be taken into consideration. 
5. Must be supportive of the boarding school concept; must have a call or strong sense of commitment to children and an enjoyment of being with them. 
6. Must have the physical health needed to fulfill the responsibilities of dorm parenting.                     
7. International Driver’s License and willingness to transport students
