KBR Readiness and Sustainment division is the Team Behind the Mission. As KBR JOC we deliver construction services to the US Military and collation partners at Djibouti Africa camp Lemonier Naval Base round the world. We furnish all labor, supervision, management, tools, materials, equipment, facilities, transportation, incidental engineering, and other items necessary to perform renovations, maintenance, replacements, alterations, demolition, and provision of temporary facilities for NAVFAC construction category II, III, and IV tasks. KBR/JOC ensures delivery to the highest standard in every aspect of construction work in a timely manner allowing deployed personnel to focus on mission execution.

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Civil Engineer with strong knowledge of AutoCAD to support civil engineering and construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and updating engineering drawings and technical documentation, supporting design development, coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams, and ensuring that all work complies with applicable project requirements, engineering standards, safety regulations, and NAVFAC requirements.

 

This position requires a combination of sound civil engineering knowledge, strong AutoCAD drafting capabilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with engineers, architects, contractors, surveyors, and project management teams.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Prepare, develop, modify, and maintain civil engineering drawings and technical plans using AutoCAD.
• Develop drawings and layouts for site development, grading, drainage, roads, foundations, utilities, infrastructure, and other civil construction elements.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and project documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
• Perform civil engineering calculations and provide technical support during the design development process.
• Coordinate with architects, electrical and other engineering disciplines, contractors, surveyors, project managers, and construction personnel.
• Support site inspections, field measurements, surveys, and technical evaluations as required.
• Ensure engineering designs and drawings comply with applicable building codes, engineering standards, project specifications, safety requirements, and NAVFAC regulations.
• Review and update drawings to reflect changes in site conditions, design requirements, construction activities, or project scope.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, drawing registers, revision records, and technical files.
• Provide engineering and technical support during construction and assist in resolving drawing, design, and field-related issues.
• Prepare or assist with quantity take-offs, material estimates, cost-related documentation, and other technical deliverables.
• Assist with coordination between design and construction teams to ensure drawings accurately reflect approved designs and field conditions.
• Complete assigned engineering and drafting tasks accurately, efficiently, and within established project schedules.
• Maintain action-item logs and follow up with responsible personnel to ensure timely completion.

·         Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution.

·         Minimum 2 years of relevant civil engineering experience.

·         Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and the ability to produce accurate, detailed technical drawings.

·         Good understanding of civil engineering principles, construction practices, and technical documentation.

·         Ability to read, interpret, and review engineering drawings, plans, specifications, and construction documents.

·         Working knowledge of construction materials, methods, and practices.

·         Strong attention to detail with effective analytical and problem-solving skills.

·         Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

·         Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

·         Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.

·                     Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.

·       Excellent problem-solving skills and teamwork abilities.

·        Must Have Computer and Communication skills.

·        Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in English.

·        Must possess passport book (not passport card) with at least 12 months of remaining validity and with at least 6 blank visa/stamp pages remaining

·                     Must possess driver’s license with at least 6 months of remaining validity

 Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

·     Experience with 3D modeling or civil design software is an advantage.

·     Experience in one or more of the following areas:

o    Land development and site design

o    Surveying and field measurements

o    Grading and drainage

o    Roads and transportation infrastructure

o    Utilities and infrastructure

o    Foundations and civil construction

· Previous experience working directly with contractors, construction teams, and field personnel.

·         Experience supporting projects subject to NAVFAC standards and requirements.

·         Experience with quantity take-offs, material estimates, and construction documentation.

·         Professional Engineering (PE) registration or eligibility for professional registration is preferred.

·         Excellent organization and attention to detail
