Cirrus Venture Labs (CVL) is Cirrus Logic's technology accelerator, focused on developing disruptive, scalable, and monetizable innovations that solve high-impact industry problems. Our mission is to accelerate the introduction of foundational technologies and silicon-centric business models that enable Cirrus Logic to expand into new markets and product categories.
As a Graduate Systems Engineering Intern – Power & Control, you will work alongside experienced engineers, Innovation Managers, and technical architects to explore and prototype next-generation technologies across power electronics, motor control, and intelligent physical systems.
You will apply advanced academic knowledge to real-world engineering challenges through system modeling, simulation, hardware development, and experimental validation. We are particularly interested in candidates who combine strong fundamentals in physical systems with practical experience or curiosity in applying machine learning and modern AI tools to accelerate engineering discovery and prototyping.
This role offers an opportunity to contribute directly to early-stage technology initiatives, collaborate with external ecosystem partners, and gain exposure to the technical and commercial considerations that shape new semiconductor technologies and businesses.
Responsibilites- Develop or adapt models of DC-DC converters and related power systems using MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice, PLECS, or similar tools.
- Analyze converter behavior across operating conditions, including efficiency, transient response, stability, and control performance.
- Support the evaluation of isolated and non-isolated converter topologies, power-stage components, and control approaches.
- Assist with circuit schematics, component selection, PCB design, and prototype development.
- Bring up, debug, and modify hardware; help identify electrical or thermal issues during testing.
- Plan and run lab measurements using oscilloscopes, electronic loads, power analyzers, signal generators, and other instrumentation.
- Compare measured results with simulations, investigate discrepancies, and update models or design assumptions.
- Automate analysis or test-data processing, and document results for engineering reviews.
- Collaborate with systems engineers and cross-functional partners to turn technical questions into models, experiments, and prototype demonstrations.
- Currently pursuing a master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Control Systems, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of electrical circuits, power electronics fundamentals, and feedback control.
- Experience with DC-DC converters through research, coursework, projects, or internships.
- Experience modeling or simulating electrical systems using MATLAB/Simulink or comparable tools.
- Familiarity with laboratory instruments and an interest in hands-on hardware testing and debugging.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
Cirrus Logic follows a 2+ day in-office work schedule but interns should expect to be in the office more often, up to 5 days per week, based on business needs and team preference. Interns must be based within commutable distance of the work location listed on the job posting, or willing to relocate prior to beginning their internship with Cirrus Logic. Export control restrictions based upon applicable laws and regulations would prohibit candidates who are nationals of certain embargoed countries from working in this position without Cirrus Logic first obtaining an export license. Candidates for this role must be able to access technical data without a requirement for an export license. We are unable to sponsor or obtain export licenses for this role. Cirrus Logic strives to select the best qualified applicant for any opening. Different approaches, ideas and points of view are both valued and respected. Employment decisions are made on the basis of job-related criteria without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, protected veteran or disabled status, genetic information, or any other classification protected by applicable law.
