Director, Investment Committee Governance & Operations
Location: New York, NY, Austin, TX, Dallas, TX
Purpose
The Director, Investment Committee Governance & Operations owns Digital Realty's global Investment Committee (IC) operating model, governance framework, and decision-support processes. The role manages the weekly IC process, establishes submission standards, maintains the Company's system of record for investment approvals, and drives continuous improvement from intake through decision, documentation, and implementation handoff.
Beyond operating the approval process, the Director ensures critical investment information is captured consistently and can be readily retrieved, benchmarked, and analyzed. This includes preserving the key assumptions and metrics supporting approvals and enabling senior leadership and downstream functions to understand what was approved and the basis for the decision.
Working across Portfolio Management Group (PMG), Acquisitions, Hyperscale Development & Leasing (HDL), Finance, Accounting, Design Engineering & Construction (DE&C), and senior leadership, the Director drives continual improvement in governance, information quality, systems, and operating efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Committee Governance & Operations
- Own and operate the global IC process end-to-end, including intake, classification, routing, committee consideration, approval documentation, implementation handoffs, and record retention.
- Manage weekly IC meetings, ensuring materials comply with established submission requirements and are presented in a clear, consistent, and decision-ready format.
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks, submission standards, decision rights, controls, and operating procedures.
- Lead and develop internal, offshore, and third-party resources supporting IC operations.
Investment Committee Content & Information Standards
- Own the design, governance, and continuous evolution of IC templates, submission requirements, and decision-support materials in response to evolving business priorities, risks, and IC and executive feedback.
- Ensure IC materials clearly and consistently surface the key information, risks, mitigants, assumptions, and metrics required by the Committee.
- Partner with submitting teams to ensure evolving standards and requirements are clearly understood and consistently adopted.
Investment Approval Data, Benchmarking & Insights
- Develop reporting on IC activity, including submission volumes, approval trends, capital approved, and relevant geographic and investment trends.
- Capture key approval terms, assumptions, and metrics in a structured and comparable format.
- Develop benchmarking using IC approval information and relevant enterprise data to compare investment, development, and construction metrics across projects, regions, and time periods.
- Serve as a resource to senior leadership for questions regarding investment approvals, historical assumptions, benchmarking, cost trends, and related investment information.
- Maintain a controlled, searchable, and auditable repository of IC submissions, approvals, supporting analyses, amendments, and related documentation.
Technology & Continuous Improvement
- Define and execute the long-term roadmap for IC processes, systems, reporting, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities.
- Represent the IC's requirements across relevant technology, data, and reporting initiatives, promoting consistent definitions across IC submissions and source systems and ensuring information can be readily accessed, benchmarked, and presented to senior leadership.
- Lead implementation and adoption of process and technology improvements that increase efficiency, scalability, transparency, and usability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Real Estate, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Experience leading complex cross-functional processes, governance programs, operating-model initiatives, or investment-related functions.
- Strong analytical capabilities, including reporting, benchmarking, trend analysis, and translating complex information into actionable insights.
