About Our Family
Our family includes a busy working parent, two active school-aged children, and our beloved golden retriever.
We are a close-knit, active household based in Manhattan Beach. Our home is warm, fast-paced, and full of life. Afternoons bring a mix of activities, routines, and the kind of organized chaos that comes with raising two kids who are deeply involved in sports and the arts. We love low-key family time: beach days, board games, movies, and time at the club. What we are looking for is someone who helps protect that time by keeping the household running smoothly behind the scenes.
Our household runs on a busy schedule, and we value professionalism, warmth, initiative, and efficiency. We have a housekeeper and a regular dog walker, but this role is very much a hands-on position that includes managing daily laundry, keeping the kitchen and living spaces organized, preparing meals, and handling the many small tasks that keep a household running. We are looking for someone who can both develop effective systems for running these tasks and take ownership of the everyday work. We want someone who notices what needs to happen before being asked, builds the infrastructure to keep things on track, and communicates proactively so nothing falls through the cracks.
Above all, we're looking for someone who wants to become a valued part of our household team. We aren't looking for someone to simply check boxes off a list. We want someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys creating order out of the everyday chaos, and finds joy in helping a busy family thrive.
Who You Are and What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is an operational thinker who thrives in a dynamic household and takes genuine pride in building systems that stick. You do not wait to be told what needs to be done. Instead, you see it, prioritize it, and handle it. You are trustworthy, discreet, and comfortable working alongside a busy working parent who values efficiency and direct communication.
You are the glue that holds it all together! You enjoy the variety of managing a busy household and are equally comfortable organizing a closet, folding laundry, preparing dinner, running errands, or figuring out a better way to manage everyday routines. No task is too small, and you take satisfaction in seeing things through from start to finish. You thrive in a busy, dynamic household, love variety, and know how to keep things running smoothly without needing constant direction.
You are proactive, organized, confident, and resourceful. You anticipate needs, take ownership, communicate clearly, and bring a calm, positive energy to even the busiest days.
You are warm and engaging with school-age children while respecting their growing independence. You can provide age-appropriate support with their homework and organization routines and responsibilities without hovering or micromanaging.
You take feedback graciously, communicate clearly, and proactively send a plan for the week without being prompted. You respect professional boundaries, communicate clearly and efficiently, and understand the importance of working independently without requiring constant direction.
While this position encompasses a variety of responsibilities, the primary day-to-day priorities are laundry, maintaining an organized and tidy home, meal and lunch preparation, and keeping the family’s school and activity routines running smoothly.
