You don't need years of nursery experience to make a difference. We're looking for someone with the right attitude, a genuine passion for working with young children and a willingness to learn and develop.

Working alongside our experienced Early Years Practitioners, Room Managers and nursery leadership team, you'll help create a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where children aged 0-5 can learn, play and thrive.

Our St Philips nursery is based at Shaftesbury Chapel, Union Road, Bristol, BS2 0LP, close to the city centre and approximately a 12-minute walk from Bristol Temple Meads station.

What you'll be doing

As an Early Years Assistant, you'll:

  • Support the care, learning and development of children aged 0-5.

  • Help provide engaging play and learning experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

  • Create a warm, welcoming and stimulating environment where children feel safe and valued.

  • Support age-appropriate activities and learning experiences.

  • Help prepare resources and learning environments.

  • Support children's personal care, meals, hygiene, rest and daily routines.

  • Observe children's development and contribute to their next steps with guidance from experienced colleagues.

  • Build positive relationships with children and their families.

  • Support children as they settle into nursery and transition between rooms.

  • Work collaboratively with your room team and the wider nursery.

  • Follow safeguarding, child protection, health and safety and welfare procedures.

  • Take part in training, supervision and ongoing professional development.

About you

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a genuine passion for working with babies and young children.

  • Is caring, positive, reliable and professional.

  • Enjoys being part of a team.

  • Communicates confidently and positively with others.

  • Is keen to learn and develop their Early Years knowledge.

  • Understands the importance of keeping children safe.

  • Is willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.

It would be great if you also have:

  • Previous experience working with children or in a nursery, preschool or Early Years environment.

  • Knowledge or understanding of the EYFS.

  • Paediatric First Aid or Safeguarding training.

Previous nursery experience isn't essential. If you have the right attitude and a passion for helping children learn and develop, we'd love to hear from you.
