Contract Sourcing Specialist

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist supports the development and execution of strategic sourcing initiatives that drive cost savings, supplier performance, operational efficiency, and continuity of patient care. This role partners with clinical, operational, finance, and legal stakeholders to evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, support sourcing strategies, and ensure compliance with organizational procurement standards.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned products, services, and supplier categories.
• Manage competitive bids, RFPs, supplier evaluations, contract negotiations, and renewals.
• Negotiate pricing, rebates, volume discounts, service levels, and other contractual terms.
• Conduct spend analysis and evaluate total cost of ownership, cost-saving opportunities, and return on investment.
• Collaborate with clinical leaders, physicians, nursing, finance, legal, and operational teams on sourcing initiatives.
• Support value analysis and product standardization efforts while considering quality, safety, clinical effectiveness, and cost.
• Monitor supplier performance related to cost, quality, service, compliance, and delivery.
• Identify and help mitigate supply chain risks, including product shortages, backorders, recalls, and supplier disruptions.
• Coordinate contract renewals, implementations, product conversions, and supplier transitions.
• Maintain accurate contract records and ensure negotiated pricing is reflected in purchasing systems.
• Support compliance with GPO agreements, purchasing policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Track and report cost savings, cost avoidance, contract compliance, and sourcing project results.

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
• 5–8 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain, or contract management preferred.
• Healthcare supply chain experience within a hospital, health system, or Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) strongly preferred.
• Experience with RFPs, supplier negotiations, contract management, financial analysis, and sourcing initiatives.
• Knowledge of healthcare supply chain operations, GPO contracting, value analysis, and supplier management.
• Strong analytical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel for spend analysis, cost comparisons, and savings tracking.
• Experience with ERP/procurement and contract management systems.
• Strong communication, negotiation, project management, and relationship-building skills.
• CMRP (Certified Materials & Resource Professional) or CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) certification preferred.
